Two of the most-respected names in UK hip-hop have teamed up to show that it is not soft to spit positivity with the release of the ‘CT Scan’ E.P.
Edinburgh-based MC Conscious Route and award-winning West Midlands rapper Trademark Blud deliver 5 tracks of thought-provoking hip-hop with a rugged, street-savvy edge
‘Gassed’ opens the set as the duo call out fake MCs while producer TechOne brings rolling snares, rumbling bass, and swirling synth lines.
Having come out swinging, things take a more mellow turn with the dub-tinted ‘Iron Sparkz,’ but don’t let the relaxed production lull you into a false sense of security as the wordplay still rocks hard.
‘Validate’ sees TechOne switch the beats to a dark, brooding, boom-bap backdrop as Trademark Blud and Conscious Route bring a lyrical depth to match.
With all the feel of a sure-shot club heater, ‘Crank’ drops like a megaton bomb as grime-influences ring through and the two MCs bring skill showcasing rhymes that will have you hitting rewind.
The collection is rounded off with ‘Illusions,’ a strong politically-minded slice of UK hip-hop as Conscious Route and trademark Blud show it can be cool to be conscious - with a street-smart attitude.
