about

Edinburgh-based Conscious Route teams up with Paisley’s own
Kryptik to present his latest single ‘Trojan’ produced by legendary
UK Hip Hop producer Forest DLG (aka Chemo/Telemachus) who
serves up a slice of 5-star Boom Bap for Conscious Route and
Kryptik to go back-to-back, bar-for-bar displaying great chemistry
and mic presence with the added bonus of an immensely catchy
hook as we see the pair unapologetically take aim at critics and
naysayers.

The track provides a scathing response with some
extremely clever wordplay to hit back at one particular internet
publications poor assessment of Conscious Route’s diverse ‘Lost
Routes’ album:

'The problem with Lost Routes is that there is little variation
between the songs. True Note’s beats are slick and entertaining, but
a bit samey. Yes, Conscious Route’s vocals sound awesome. His flow
isn’t at the speed of Ocean Wisdom and the lyrically imagery he
creates is clever, but after a few tracks it all starts to merge into
one.'

Conscious Route is a 42-year-old rapper, MC, poet and singersongwriter who was born in London before moving to Edinburgh
over a decade ago. He has been very active on the live scene,
having been heavily involved in the Kelburn Festival for over 5
years as both a performer and host and has supported touring
acts such as - Abdominal, Akala, Normanton Street, Hector Bizerk,
Dabbla and Dead Prez.

In 2020 he returned to the studio for his
‘Lost Routes’ album, alongside producer True Note. The album
was released to a 4-star review in The Scotsman and picked out
for a ‘track of the week; on BBC Introducing Scotland, while 5 of
the album’s tracks were named among Scotland’s top 100 tunes
in The Herald last year.

Kryptik’s journey into Hip-Hop began in 2002 with graffiti and
beatboxing before moving into production in 2006 and by 2015 he
had released his debut album, ‘Necessary Evil’. He is the founding
member of the ‘Delivery Room’ crew and has supported acts up
and down the country including - Dirty Dike, Ocean Wisdom,
Dabbla, Skinnyman and most recently The Sugarhill Gang. In 2019
he was nominated for a Scottish Alternative Music Award and in
2020, took the title for Scottish HipHop Track of the Year on North
Highland Radio for his track ‘Found The Love’. This track also saw its
national debut in January, on BBC Introducing in Scotland leading to
a repeat appearance the following week with another track called
‘Burnout’.

Conscious Route looks set to continue delivering homegrown
Hip-Hop to make you think throughout 2021…
